Takezou Kurata finds himself as the sole remaining member of the Koto Music Club after all other members graduate. He is determined to rebuild the club but struggles to find new members due to a lack of interest. Just when he feels like giving up, Chika Kudou, a notorious delinquent, shows up and claims he will join and become the club president.
Initially, Kurata is hesitant to accept Kudou due to his bad reputation. However, as he gets to know him better and learns about his connection to the club, Kurata changes his mind. With the help of koto prodigy Satowa Houzuki, the club is saved when Kudou’s lively friends Saneyasu Adachi, Michitaka Sakai, and Kouta Mizuhara join.
After recruiting new members, the Koto Music Club now has enough people to continue as a club. However, Houzuki sets an ambitious goal of becoming the best koto players in the country, which Kurata is not thrilled about. Despite their differences, the group is determined to achieve their goal, but they know that there will be many obstacles and difficulties along the way. Through their journey, they will need to confront their fears and work together to overcome the challenges in order to make their aspirations a reality.

Kono Oto Tomare! Chapter 122 Summer’s Ordeal starts by showing that Granny and sen chan’s mom and other family members have arrived to see their performance, Tokise high school team arrives and Chika is surprised to see their Granny as they tell her their performance is tomorrow but Shizune explains she is here to see her friend’s grandchild perform, Takezou asks her which school her grandchild goes to and she tells him Eidai Prefectural High school.
chika tells her to pass her bag so he could find her some seats, Chika runs for it and others call him Grandma’s boy when Chika enters the performance hall a girl spots him and she makes a disgusted face at him but when she sees him helping the elderly she is embarrassed and blushes.
we get to see the Eidai team in the training room where Akari looks super anxious as he is fiddling, the other two try to calm him down when the instructor comes in and tells them after 10 minutes they’ll be taking the stage
Haru tells him even San was nervous like him the last time and ended up playing the song at triple the speed, Akari is shocked but San says it won’t happen this time as Akari is here with them, they put their hands on top of each other and San encourages them saying even if they are the smallest group among the others they won’t be losing to anybody.
It’s their turn to take the stage now the song they’re playing is a tough song and tells how much effort Akari has put in just months but right now he is super nervous Haru nods at him subtly saying they are right here,
As soon as they start playing energy passes through everyone at how fast and great their playing techniques are as they manage to make the sound seem like a running river with the deep pressure and intensity they play with but when Akari makes another move it seems like there is a problem with the bridge and we are left on a cliffhanger with this.
